2019 has just begun and just like any mom, I am beaming with excitement on the magic of new beginnings. It’s a fresh start for my family and I admit I am both scared and thrilled of the big changes and opportunities that await me.
As a mother, I believe that mental health is by far the most important aspect of parenting that we should nourish. As I think of the new year, I realized I should master the confidence game and the art of survival as I commit to a fresh start of raising my kids (and myself). As such, I penned these notes to myself and to my fellow mamas in the hope of lessening our mental stress:
What we think, we create.
We live in a world filled with noise and as much as we want to be agents of change we don’t possess the superpowers to address all negativities. What I’m trying to say is that we should choose our battles. We should nurture our minds with positive and healthy decisions and cast away our anxiety and fears unless we want stress to lead our lives.
Focus on the joys of motherhood.
Marriage and motherhood can be overwhelming and sometimes we want to cry our hearts out to release our frustrations and anger. More so, we complain about the daily challenges of parenting and we tend to blame ourselves, our partners and children for their misbehavior and shortcomings. In doing so, we missed appreciating the joys that motherhood brings. Let’s focus on the light and happiness so that we can spread the same positive vibes to our family.
Motherhood has its set of challenges but its advantages are way bigger than you can imagine. No matter the season, embrace yourself and be proud that you are holding the role of a mother- one whose love and strength are beyond amazing. That alone is enough to keep you going.
