Women who support other women make an incredible team. It’s great to watch and hear women amplify and defend each other’s ideas and styles in the workplace. After all, these brilliant minds and genuine hearts benefit from each other in a multitude of ways.
Here are the amazing things you can do to advocate other women at work:
If you hold a senior post in the office, step up and mentor younger women who need wisdom and guidance. Discuss her performance especially her strengths and weaknesses. Empower her to be strong and a great leader in the future.
When colleagues bash her, speak up and stand up for her. Do not allow bullying and power tripping to dominate in the workplace. We are not perfect and we commit mistakes, however, women tend to accept the bigger blame as females are stereotyped as weak and fragile. We’re not. We are capable of greater things and we are agents of change.
Being a working mom is hard as you juggle your time between career and parenting. As such, support her endeavors and celebrate her successes. Cheer her up when she feels tired and on the verge of giving up. Encourage her to believe in herself and her dreams.
Gender equality should be observed in the workplace and if you’re a supervisor, do your best to pay women equally, particularly those whose roles are equivalent to men. Remember, women can do things that men do. There should be no issue of gender, it’s all about what they can do for the success of the company.
