Gone are the days when shows like Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood and Reading Rainbow would introduce kids to the wonderful world of books. Reading plays a big part in expanding your kids imagination. In this time when computers and phones are having the biggest impact on humanity, it can be hard to push books. Here are some helpful methods that will see your child loving books.
- Read – I don’t mean just read to your child, but read to yourself. Your child’s earliest memories will have a profound impact on him. If he sees you reading he’ll take up an interest in reading as well. This can lead to lifelong love for books.
- Read to Your Toddler – Book can be so magical. Read to your toddler. Introduce him into the world of Narnia or Lassie. Dr. Seuss is always a great place to start. They will learn to love books if you make this one of the biggest forms of entertainment. Don’t just stick them in front of the television.
- Put Life Into The Story – Bring the character in the story to life by giving them very unique and amazing voices. Bring out stuffed animals and let them act it out. Make sure you make reading fun. Make this something that they’ll want to do over and over. If you make reading boring it will end up being something they dread.
- Be Excited to Read – A child knows when you are excited and want to do something. Show them that you always welcome a reading session. Be as happy about it as they are. Don’t leave them alone on the joys of reading, join their happiness.
